On January 25, 1941 the Leningrad Aviation Institute (LAI) was founded on the former premises of the Leningrad Road Institute (Gastello Street, 15) by the Decree of the Soviet Government. 1200 students were enrolled in three faculties of Aircraft Construction, Instrumentation and Motor Building. During the Great Patriotic War the Institute operated an aircraft and tank repair shop. While some of the students and the faculty standing for the city, the LAI was evacuated.

Online-Conference between SUAI and SSPU International Services

September 29, 2020 SUAI and SSPU continued negotiations on future cooperation. Yesterday SUAIs Rector Yulia Antokhina participated in the SSPU Council Meeting to discuss trends of SSPU development.

Todays meeting brought SUAIs Vice-Rector for International Affairs Konstantin Losev and the Head of International Cooperation Sub-Department Yulia Makarova to talk with SSPU international offices.

SSPUs Vice-Rector for International Affairs Mo Liangjin informed SUAIs colleagues on Winter and Summer schools at SSPU inviting students from SUAI to participate.

SUAI also invited SSPU students and faculty to join SUAIs events during the 80th anniversary year.

SUAI Finished Training Program on Communications and Promoting Educational Services at International Education Markets

September 18-26, 2020 Russian universities RANEPA and RUDN held a course to teach Communications and Promoting Educational Services at International Education Markets within the Export of Education Federal Project.

Teams from 9 universities competed to improve competences of their international offices developing a final project. Every day experts from SUAI listened to lectures and participated in workshops in order to understand traditional marketing and digital marketing tools.

SUAIs project on Marketing Strategy in Chile was successful according to the expert commission.

SUAIs Rector at Shanghai Polytechnic University Council Meeting

September 28, 2020 the Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU) held the annual Council Meeting to define benchmarks and goals for the university in 2021. Also, the day was dedicated to SSPUs 60th anniversary .

SUAIs Rector Yulia Antokhina, a member to the SSPU Council since 2016, suggested ideas and taks to develop SSPUs R&D and education. SUAIs Rector promoted regular online-meetings to support high-quality technical education wishing the Chinese partner prosperity and high-ranking positions.

In the Session the Council members exchanged opinions on distant education, discussed industry-oriented educational programs and future of SSPU resulting in 12 notes for the President of SSPU Yu Tao.

SUAI Participates in Training Program on Communications and Promoting Educational Services at International Education Markets

September 18-26, 2020 Russian universities RANEPA and RUDN are teaching a professional development program to train experts in international education. Leaders and employees from universities international offices learn Communications and Promoting Educational Services at International Education Markets within the Export of Education Federal Project. The project aims at developing skills of those working with international applicants and students.

SUAIs team of 4 internationalists under the Vice-Rector for International Affairs Konstantin Losev represents the university at workshops and online-sessions with daily practice and reports.

Upon successful completion of the program and presenting a final project, the team from SUAI will receive valuable experience and certificates on professional development.

WorldSkills Qualifications at SUAI

WorldSkills Qualifications at SUAI

September 21, 2020 SUAIs Boiling Point Center started St.Petersburg WorldSkills Championship.

The competition will see 14 competences with over 150 participants and 150 experts in Technology Entrepreneurship, Mobile Application Development, Machine Learning and Big Data etc.

SUAIs Rector Yulia Antokhina opened the Championship with a welcoming speech. WorldSkills representatives also gave speeches promoting youth initiatives and innovations.

SUAI at Online-Exhibition in India

September 19-20, 2020 SUAI took part in an online-exhibition and education fair called Russian education-2020.

Organized by Rossotrudnichestvo in India and Rus Education company, the exhibition was held online via video chat and regular chat. In the exhibition SUAIs international offices promoted educational programs and consulted Indian youth on opportunities in year 2020.

Central America Independence Days

September 15th, 2020 Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and El Salvador celebrate their Independence Day. Thus, the Honorary Consuls of El Salvador, Guatemala and Ecuador organized a meeting for friends and partners of Latin American countries in St. Petersburg on September, 17th.

SUAIs vice-Rector for International Affairs Konstantin Losev represented SUAI to thank the Honorary Consuls for cooperation in science and education and congratulate them on the important date for their countries.

Tatiana Mashkova from the National Committee for Enhancing Cooperation with Latin America (CN CEPLA) held a speech to promote student and faculty exchange between the region and Russia, also speaking about SUAIs role in strengthening such contacts, especially with Chile.

Russia is very glad to cooperate with Central American countries in a friendly, understanding way, hoping for a growing partnership in the future.

SUAIs Rector Receives Alexander Nevsky Government Award

The SUAIs Rector Yulia Antokhina received the Alexander Nevsky Award of the Government of St. Petersburg for enhancing peoples unity, promoting cultural and historical heritage of St. Petersburg and working on projects vital for the society.

September 12th in the ceremony the Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov handed awards in the Saint Alexander Nevsky Lavra.

SUAIs Rector Receives Certification for 70 Educational Programs Professional Open Accreditation

September 16th, a ceremony was held at the Leningrad Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Professional accreditation certified SUAIs 70 educational programs with a high mark.
The Leningrad Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry union is an entity for employers from
Northwest of Russia responsible for accreditations at universities and colleges. Such accreditations
result in better understanding between educational organizations and businesses ensuring relevant
training for current requirements.
In 2020 36 experts from leading industries of the region confirmed high standards of SUAIs education.
SUAIs Rector Yulia Antokhina stated that the university needed an independent evaluation and didnt
fear it. Recognition from local businesses increases the Universitys trustworthiness and gives new
opportunities for cooperation, believes the Rector.
SUAIs current partners and representatives from the Leningrad Region Chamber of Commerce and
Industry congratulated SUAI hoping that other educational organizations will follow the example.

Closing of the Russian-German Year of Scientific and Educational Partnership

On September 15, 2020, as part of the closing ceremony of the Russian-German Year of Scientific and Educational Partnerships 2018-2020, held under the patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, an online conference Russian-German Dialogue in education and science: creating the future together was held. It was dedicated to the prospects of scientific and educational cooperation between Russia and Germany.

Employees of the SUAI Department of International Affairs took part in the conference, the program of which consisted of three panel sessions.

During the first panel session called "Dialogue in Science and Education: Prospects for Russian-German Cooperation" leading experts from Russia and Germany in the field of science and higher education discussed the further development and priorities of international and, in particular, Russian-German cooperation in the field of education and science.

At the second panel session Scientific and Educational Partnerships in the Spotlight. The Diversity of Russian-German Scientific Partnerships were discussed the bilateral formats and tools to support and further develop research done by young scientists from the two countries.

The third panel session Building the future together. Bridges for Russian-German scientific and educational cooperation was devoted to the priority future directions for international scientific and educational cooperation.

Within the framework of the conference, a virtual exhibition was organized, where Russian and German universities, scientific organizations and scientific foundations presented their joint programs and opportunities for cooperation.

The grand opening of the Week of Russian Science and Technology

On September 8, within the framework of the 18th China International Exhibition and Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP 2020), the grand opening of the Week of Russian Science and Technology took place.

 

China and Russia have announced 2020 and 2021 as the Years of Russian-Chinese Scientific and Technical Cooperation and Innovation. This is a strategic decision taken by the heads of state of Russia and China in view of the trend in the development of the international situation and the general picture of world scientific and technological development. Both countries use these thematic years as an opportunity to strengthen scientific and technical cooperation and joint training of professionals, to implement high-quality development through innovation.

 

Within the framework of the Week of Russian Science and Technology, an online exposition, thematic online conferences, events promoting scientific projects and other events are organized. Today, staff members of the SUAI Department of International Affairs and the Center for Coordination of Scientific Research took part in the Russian-Chinese conference on scientific, technical and innovative cooperation in the field of advanced production technologies.

 

At the conference, Director of the Center for Coordination of Scientific Research A.V. Rabin and leading specialist of the Center for Coordination of Scientific Research A.A. Petrushevskaya presented the project on technology for the purification of oily water with filters based on graphene sorbent, implemented under the Federal Target Program for Research and Development in Priority Areas of Development of the Scientific and Technological Complex of Russia for 2014-2020.
