June 26-28, 2018 SUAI welcomed Dr. Alvaro Casas Bedoya of the University of Sydney, Member of the Optical Society (OSA), a lecturer and currently the leading researcher in nano-photonics at the School of Physics and the University of Sydney Nano Institute. He visited St. Peterburg to share his experience and expertise with all the OSA student-members at SUAI.
Dr. Alvaro Casas gave a lecture on "Surfing within Optical Wave and Sound at Nanoscale". He presented the results of the latest research in acousto-optic interaction in silicon waveguides and hybrid platforms and development of microwave photonic filters and optical data storage.
The second part of the meeting, a student seminar, was devoted to the prospects of international cooperation between the universities, student involvement in scientific research and opportunities for their scientific growth. Dr. Alvaro Casas consulted on writing proper research papers, preparing presentations and presenting research findings at conferences.
We express our gratitude to OSA for providing financial support for the meeting with Dr. Alvaro Casas Bedoya.
