Open Lecture on Next Generation Wireless Standards for the Internet of Things
On November 9 as a part of the international conference FRUCT-32 was held an open lecture on Wireless Internet of Things and DECT-2020 NR Technology. The lecturer is Juho Pirskanen - a leading systems engineer at Wirepas Ltd. (Finland)

The lecture was held online, students and SUAI staff had the opportunity to attend the lecture in person at the Leonardo da Vinci scientific and exhibition hall.

The speaker announced promising areas of application of the Internet of Things in urban environment, and provided examples of the most problematic areas of coverage for urban networks.

As well was presented the promising DECT 2020-NR technology which is a non-cellular radio standard recently included by the ITU in 5G standards, although it’s the world's first non-cellular technology included in 5G. The network has a flexible and highly scalable network structure that could be used in many industries while using well-known cellular technologies. A detailed description of the standard and the principles of its operation was provided.
